Club Races

Wildflower, Ventura, Oxnard, Santa Barbara, and Carpentaria will be our official club races for the year.  These events will have a large club presence so please take that into consideration when planning your season!

Program

We had such a positive response the last two years we decided to start a tradition. The first program featured our 2010 award winners. Karen Schultz, Craig Spreadbury, Rosie Thomposon and John Nelson, give us a glimpse into their 2010 season. They all did a fabulous job giving us some amazing advice and allowed us so see why they were so successful. This incite was well received and hopefully everyone can apply it to their own training and racing.  Thanks you all!

The respective awards given to each of them last season!

Female Race of the Year - Karen Schultz

Deciding to give bone marrow and volunteering to go into surgery in the middle of the triathlon season was one of the most selfless acts imaginable. Not only did Karen return with a vengeance, she dominated the Santa Barbara Sprint Triathlon placing 1st OVERALL less then two months after surgery!!

Male Race of the Year - Craig Spreadbury

A year of determination, focus and hard work paid off for Craig.  He put together an astounding race at Ironman Canada.   He took more than 75 minutes off his 2009 time and in the process was awarded a spot at the Ironman World Championships, Kona, HI.

Female Athlete of the Year - Rosie Thompson

This year as Rosie turned 65 and aged up, she decided to step outside her comfort zone by competing in longer races.   She absolutely dominated this season!  Rosie placed 2nd in the Santa Barbara Long Course, 1st at the Ventura and Carpinteria Olympic and 1st at Wildflower and Tinley’s Sprint.   She is a role model to us all, and has taught us that age does not matter.

Male Athlete of the Year - John Nelson

John’s spectacular season started with solid races at Oceanside 70.3, Wildflower and Honu 70.3.  This set him up for a impressive second half of the season as John placed 2nd at the Ventura Triathlon and 1st in the Santa Barbara Long Course. John completed this amazing season with a remarkable performance at the Age Group National Championships in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
