Name: Elizabeth Cholawsky
Years in Triathlon: 24
How did you get into triathlon? My good friend and mentor, Cherie Gruenfeld, taught me to run marathons. When she switched to triathlons, she advised me to follow-along. I never looked back.
Favorite element (swim/bike/run)? Biking! I was one of those kids who was inseparable from her bike from about the time she could walk.
Favorite race and why? The Santa Barbara Tri Long Course. After 18 finishes there’s always something to discover. And the home-town crowd is the best.
Worst race and why? Half Moon Bay Olympic in 2017. The water was 52 degrees. The air was foggy and cold. Even the run didn’t warm me up. New Rule: volunteer at the Half Moon Bay Tri and watch others do it.
What are your goals this year?
1) Completing the Palm Springs Half Marathon, check!
2) Lower my standard of humor so that I can become a member of “Team Bad Joke” and swim with them on Mondays and Fridays. Check!
3) Keep up my motivation to train so that I’m fit and ready for when we can all race together again. This is still a work-in-progress.
Occupation: CEO
Family Life: Married to the best triathlon supporter of all time. We have 1 cat, Beckham, who is the worst triathlon supporter of all time.
Something most people don’t know about you: I came to triathlons way late in life, having never put on a pair of running shoes until after I turned 30.
