ABOUT
My name is Nick Korompilas, I’m a local portrait and fine-art student photographer. My new project is a study of triathletes. I was brought to this very spontaneously through a mutual friend who was a prior triathlete; when I asked him where I could find serious athletes to photograph he suggested the local triathlon clubs. With a long history in action sports photography this idea really caught my attention. I didn’t know much about the sport so I did some personal research into it; what I immediately noticed was group(s) of incredibly passionate, hard working and dedicated people who all share one sport in common – this is what the project is all about.

GOAL
My goal is to create a diverse range of images showcasing each of the three main sports. I’m looking for hard working and passionate athletes and I’d like to feature both males and females.

I will be digging deep into each sport, emphasizing not only sport and portraits but also details such as the hands, feet and so on (mainly the tolls that are taken on the body – e.g. the feet picture). The images will be dark, heavy in contrast and “rough” – so the more character and ruggedness you’ve got to show, the better.

INQUIRE
Please, if you’re interested in participating, be prepared to set aside roughly 30 minutes to an hour of your time. This will allow me to dig in on details and capture the best images that I possibly can. The shoot will take place at the Mason Street Studios (Brooks Institute of Photography) located on lower State Street in Santa Barbara.

If you’re interested in participating please feel free to contact me via email, text or phone call. Please include “Triathlete Project” in the headline if using email, as well as include your preferred sport. If you have any ideas of your own please feel free to include those too.

In return of your time I’m offering web copies of the images and one FREE 8”x10” print of your choice.

Thank you so much and I look forward to hearing from you guys!

All the best,
Nick Korompilas
