Since 1983 triathletes have traveled to Bonelli Park, on the eastern edge of Los Angeles County, to learn the sport; to shake off the winter rust and get ready for the upcoming season; to see old friends and make new friends; and to be in the midst of a fun, high-energy, multi-sport setting. The LA Tri-Series events accomplish all of that and more! If you are new to the sport of triathlon this is the perfect setting to learn open water swimming in a safe environment, cycling around as a safe course with little traffic, and a well-supported run to one of the most beautiful finish lines you will experience. If you are an experienced triathlete who has been waiting for a warm water swim and safe bike course to start off the season – this is for you also.
Come on out and be a part of history at the 40th consecutive LA Tri-Series event.

- If you are nervous about riding in a group - this is for you.
- If drafting seems crazy - this is for you.
- If you watch bicycle racing on tv and wonder about pace lines - this is for you.
- If riding too close makes you uncomfortable - this is for you.
- If you want to learn how to do an emergency stop - this is for you.

It takes a lot of work to put this together - we have USAC permits & insurance and we will cover the cost of the one-day USAC license you'll need. Echelon Santa Barbara (http://echelonsantabarbara.org) is doing this as a service to the community. We'll even provide lunch!

Please join us for our annual event to commemorate beloved club members, Steve Issaris and Sandy Roberts. All are welcome to this fun and informal Sprint Triathlon. This is a great way to train and celebrate the people that lift us up the way Steve and Sandy did.
In the spirit of lifting others up, we are partnering with Exceeding Expectations who will be our charity partner for this event.
Exceeding Expectations, a program in San Bernardino that serves an inner-city population, is designed to encourage at-risk kids to move their lives in a positive direction, using the sport of triathlon as the vehicle.
The goal is not to develop the kids into elite athletes, but rather to offer them opportunities to participate in a lifestyle that is healthy, goal-oriented and very unlike that which they experience in their everyday lives. We strive to replace negative influences with positive role models and to instill in the kids a powerful new discipline of setting measurable goals and working hard to achieve them.
Our highest priority is education, and our ultimate objective is to ensure that every one of the kids graduates high school and goes on to college. We make this promise to all the EE kids: When you get into college, we'll make sure money isn't an obstacle.
EE is donor-funded and run by volunteers. We have no paid staff and no professional fund-raisers. With the exception of insurance costs, we have no administrative expenses: Every penny we collect directly benefits the kids.
What does that mean for you as a participant?
We are asking participants to make a donation to Exceeding Expectations. The suggested donation amount is $30, however any amount that is comfortable for you is acceptable. Donations can be made directly to Exceeding Expectations here, or we will accept cash and check donations at Steve's Triathlon, which will be submitted directly to Exceeding Expectations. Checks should be made out to "Exceeding Expectations".
Donors will be entered into a prize raffle from Zone 3 and Goleta Beach Triathlon. We will be raffling off a Zone 3 Parka Robe ($159 value) and TWO entries to Goleta Beach Triathlon.
