Echelon Road Cycling Skills Clinic @ Santa Ynez Valley
Jun 4 all-day

Echelon Santa Barbara is hosting a Road Cycling Skills Clinic on June 4. This is an opportunity you really don’t want to miss. Your $150 gets you half a day of intense work with two great coaches, your one-day USAC license, and lunch after at Panino in Los Olivos. Only 12 participants max, 5 spots already taken! Register now, registration ends when we fill up – no day-of registration. Triathletes take note: To participate you must be on a standard road bike with dropped  handlebars – no tri bars!

Please join us Saturday June 4 at Echelon's 2nd Cycling Skills Clinic, led by  Coaches Jill Gass (https://www.revolutioncoaching.com/jill-gass) & Nate Loyal (https://www.loyalcoaching.com/about)

Skills Clinic Registration (http://echelonsantabarbara.org/calendar) The last time we did this (Pre-Covid) it was a great success; you won't want to  miss this opportunity to learn new skills or brush up (on what you think you know.)

  • If you are nervous about riding in a group - this is for you.
  • If drafting seems crazy - this is for you.
  • If you watch bicycle racing on tv and wonder about pace lines - this is  for you.
  • If riding too close makes you uncomfortable - this is for you.
  • If you want to learn how to do an emergency stop - this is for you.
  • If you want to improve your bike handling skills - this is for you.
  • Want to be a better climber? Likewise.
  • Do you want to be a more confident descender? We can help with that.
  • Do you want to be a smarter, safer rider?

If you think you already have all the necessary skills, you'll be surprised  at what you can learn in a day working with coaches with the expertise  of Jill & Nate. (Plus, it's really a lot of fun!)

It takes a lot of work to put this together - we have USAC permits & insurance and  we will cover the cost of the one-day USAC license you'll need. Echelon Santa Barbara (http://echelonsantabarbara.org) is doing this as a service to the community. We'll even provide lunch!

All you need to do is take advantage of this great opportunity. June 4 is  approaching! Register Now! (http://echelonsantabarbara.org/calendar) If we don't have a sufficient number of participants we may have to cancel! To maximize  your experience this is limited to 12 riders.

Steve’s Memorial Triathlon 2022 @ Goleta Beach Park
Jun 25 @ 7:30 am – 11:00 am
Steve's Memorial Triathlon 2022 @ Goleta Beach Park | Goleta | California | United States

Please join us for our annual event to commemorate beloved club members, Steve Issaris and Sandy Roberts. All are welcome to this fun and informal Sprint Triathlon. This is a great way to train and celebrate the people that lift us up the way Steve and Sandy did.

In the spirit of lifting others up, we are partnering with Exceeding Expectations who will be our charity partner for this event.

Exceeding Expectations, a program in San Bernardino that serves an inner-city population, is designed to encourage at-risk kids to move their lives in a positive direction, using the sport of triathlon as the vehicle.

The goal is not to develop the kids into elite athletes, but rather to offer them opportunities to participate in a lifestyle that is healthy, goal-oriented and very unlike that which they experience in their everyday lives. We strive to replace negative influences with positive role models and to instill in the kids a powerful new discipline of setting measurable goals and working hard to achieve them.

Our highest priority is education, and our ultimate objective is to ensure that every one of the kids graduates high school and goes on to college. We make this promise to all the EE kids: When you get into college, we'll make sure money isn't an obstacle.

EE is donor-funded and run by volunteers. We have no paid staff and no professional fund-raisers. With the exception of insurance costs, we have no administrative expenses: Every penny we collect directly benefits the kids.

What does that mean for you as a participant?

We are asking participants to make a donation to Exceeding Expectations. The suggested donation amount is $30, however any amount that is comfortable for you is acceptable. Donations can be made directly to Exceeding Expectations here, or we will accept cash and check donations at Steve's Triathlon, which will be submitted directly to Exceeding Expectations. Checks should be made out to "Exceeding Expectations".

Donors will be entered into a prize raffle from Zone 3 and Goleta Beach Triathlon. We will be raffling off a Zone 3 Parka Robe ($159 value) and TWO entries to Goleta Beach Triathlon.

Club Group Ride @ East Beach Parking Lot
Feb 19 @ 9:00 am – 11:30 am

Join us for our first group ride of the season!

Matt Ison will be leading our first group ride of the season on Sunday February 19th, leaving 9 AM from East Beach.

Everyone and every speed is welcome to join! Since we'll have a variety of abilities we'll likely split into smaller groups. We will have one firm re-grouping point at the corner of Greenwell and Via Real (mile 5.4 on the route below just past downtown Summerland, there's a spot to pull out to the right) to check in and see how we should divide up. Matt will be bringing up the rear of the group for this ride, so if you're interested but a little intimidated, please come because he will make sure no one gets fully left behind. For you speedsters, Matt's wife Elke will be there to push the pace 🙂

Brick Combo with UCSB Tri @ South Coast Railroad Museum off of Los Carneros (MNTT Start Location)
Feb 25 @ 8:30 am – 10:30 am
Matt Ison will be coaching Saturday brick workouts for the UCSB Tri Team, and has invited the club to join!

These bricks will be more of a "workout" with short rounds of riding/running in succession. Matt will be wearing his coach hat and helping those who want it. It's not a no drop ride, but because it's short rounds, and since the UCSB team is there, everyone should have a small group of similar abilities.

Thanks to Coach Matt for inviting us to these brick sessions! Learn more about his coaching business, Coach Matt Powered, here: https://www.coachmattpowered.com/
