Scott Tinley’s Triathlons 2017 @ China Peak - Huntington Lake
Sep 8 @ 3:00 pm – Sep 11 @ 12:00 am
Scott Tinley's Triathlons 2017 @ China Peak - Huntington Lake | Lakeshore | California | United States

Welcome to the 23rd annual Scott Tinley’s Triathlon Adventures, including the oldest and longest running offroad triathlon on the planet. After last years’ historic drought forced cancellation of the events, we have moved the weekend of racing to Huntington Lake and the amazing China Peak Resort near Fresno. Tim Cohee, the resort owner, a top tier age-group competitor, and dear friend of myself and Terry Davis will be our host.

China Peak Resort is located 65 miles east of Fresno and has staged a number of successful triathlons, both on and off road in the past. The location is the perfect fit with our relaxed and inclusive vibe. As always, there will be something for everyone. We will not only feature mountain and road bike triathlons but a kid's race as well as both mountain and road bike hill climbs. On site hotel, camping, and nearby cabin rental is available through Skichinapeak.com.

Schedule (subject to minor changes prior to race date):

Starting out the day in the beautiful waters of Crystal Cove this race is not to be missed.

The run up from the Pacific Ocean to T1 is sure to get your heart rate going if the swim didn't. From there, mount your bike and make your way out of Crystal Cove and onto PCH for a bike ride that is breath-taking not only in its beauty, but the course will leave you panting as well.

Off the bike and you are tackling a run course that is sure to be fun and challenging. Be prepared to run partly on the beach and then finish overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Carpinteria is a beautiful beach town on the Central Coast located between Santa Barbara and Ventura.

The Carpinteria Beach, known as the “World’s Safest Beach,” is very special and has been rated the #1 swimming beach in California, due mostly to its Southern exposure and its protection by the Channel Islands. Swimmers will usually enjoy small surf and the absence of riptides at our unique beach.

The bike course, an open course and large loop, travels along the foothills offering some spectacular ocean views. Both the olympic and sprint courses offer the participant a challenging ride, although the sprint course is also very well suited for the novice triathlete.

The run course, also an open course, winds through some quaint Carpinteria neighborhoods and is mostly a flat loop course.

The Carpinteria Triathlon is a benefit event for the City’s Parks & Recreation youth programs. Proceeds will help to provide scholarships and additional equipment for programs such as Junior Lifeguards and our ocean recreation programs.
