What makes the difference between champions and those who falter and go home with nothing more than memories? What inner drive or training strategy gives the very best their edge? Mark Allen describes the transformation from a strong showing into a winning competitive performance through his own personal experience in his years as a professional triathlete and 6-time winner of the Hawaii Ironman World Championship. His newest book, The Art of Competition, truly itself a work of art, will be available for purchase and signing by its author.

Come join us for this world-renown event at beautiful Lake Cahuilla in La Quinta. Nestled against the awesome Santa Rosa Mountains and only 30 minutes from Palm Springs, this venue offers tremendous vistas while providing a very fast and fun race course. There are awards, music, prizes and post-race refreshments. All entrants receive a beautiful poly-pro tech race shirt and all finishers receive a medal. There are additional awards for top three men, women and relay teams in each age group. The sprint course is a great first timer event. We also have relay teams in both events.
The Desert Triathlon will also host the Triathlon Club Championship where your club will compete for cash and prizes while having a blast. We have over 75 different clubs from around the country and Canada compete for the title. [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We're in for a treat this March! We've got local bike fanatic and tech geek, Tom Anhalt sharing his adventures in bike technology, wind tunnels, wheel depths, aero properties of water bottles. Tom's obviously an engineer that rides bikes and geeks out on the technology behind it. Gonna be an exciting meeting! Don't miss it! Click on the GIF below to read his blog, "Blather 'bout Bikes."[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column css=".vc_custom_1457414981185{padding-top: 30px !important;}"][vc_column_text]Oh and [nudge nudge], sponsor Kristen and Mike Desmond of Flagstone Pantry (located in the SB Public Market) are catering our event. If you haven't had Flagstone fare yet, it's a good opportunity to see what you've been missing. Learn more about the Desmond's and Flagstone Pantry by clicking their charming photo.
Gonna be an exciting and delicious meeting! Don't miss it![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
NOTE!!!
The Tuesday Night Running Workout for next Tuesday, August 2, will be “off-track”, meeting at Leadbetter Beach at 6:15 (ready to run, already warmed up), at the west end, a.k.a. the Nite Moves transition. We will be doing interval repeats up the hill and down in preparation for the SB Long Course triathlon 10 mile run, which hopefully everyone has been training on. Everyone is welcome to come out and join the fun, to help boost your training and build your confidence in preparation for race day. Bring a watch or your HRM, I hope to see you there! Fred

Due to insufficient interest (not enough RSVPs), the clinic is CANCELLED. We typically need at least 10 to carry out a clinic. If you still desire taking a bike skills clinic, contact the SB Bike Coalition for instruction. Click on the logo to the left. They're a great organization that have worked wonders for the cycling community of SB.
We as SB Tri Club want to get you out on the road, training, enjoying the beauty of where we live (and putting you at ease as to why you pay the rent).
So first things first, whether you're the most experienced rider or hesitant to get on your bike, become a more confident rider by attending our Bike Skills / Ride / Brunch at the East Beach Parking Lot. Look for the SB Tri Club Tent.
So grateful to Measure A and the SB Bike Coalition for facilitating the event. I will reiterate, all levels are welcome and encouraged.
Couple things before you show up:
- Please show up promptly and ready to bike at 7:30am.
- Complete this portion of the course online at bikeed.org.
- Understand your rights & responsibilities as a driver operating a bicycle safely and legally on public roadways. Most importantly, develop the ability to identify unsafe traffic situations and make decisions that can prevent crashes and collisions.
- Before showing up, print and fill out The Online Waiver and bring it to the event.
We'll have a ride following the clinic and group together according to our ride intentions. I will say yet again, all levels are welcome and encouraged.
Join us for brunch afterward at East Beach Grill! So come on out for 1 or all consecutive activities!
