Club Group Ride @ East Beach Parking Lot
Mar 12 @ 8:30 am – 11:00 am

Join us for a club group ride!

Matt Ison will be leading monthly group rides for the club. We'll plan to meet at 8:30AM on Sunday March 12th, at East Beach.

Everyone and every speed is welcome to join! Since we'll have a variety of abilities we'll likely split into smaller groups. We will have one firm re-grouping point at the corner of Greenwell and Via Real (mile 5.4 on the route below just past downtown Summerland, there's a spot to pull out to the right) to check in and see how we should divide up. Matt will be bringing up the rear of the group for this ride, so if you're interested but a little intimidated, please come because he will make sure no one gets fully left behind. For you speedsters, Matt's wife Elke will be there to push the pace 🙂

MOnday Night Time Trial

The bike course is approximately 10 miles.  It begins at the parking lot at South Coast Railway Museum on Los Caneros Road.  We proceed north to Cathedral Oaks and turn right heading East for 1.3 miles and do a turnaround in the left hand turn lane at Santa Margarita Road.  This is the last street just before Fairview where the median strip begins.  We proceed West, then up and down Glen Annie Road. The top is 5.4 miles from the start. We then continue up the Dos Pueblos hill and proceed to the turnaround at the indicator for a “stop sign ahead”.  This is the turnaround which is marked with a circle. It is approximately 20 meters short of the actual stop sign. We then proceed East for approximately 1.3 miles to the finish.  The finish is marked with a white checkered line about 50 meters before the traffic light. When finished, make a right turn at the Dos Pueblos traffic light We will then join together in the parking lot at Dos Pueblos.

Virtual Club Ride on Zwift

Join us for a group virtual ride on Zwift!

To make it easier than ever for club members to hang out and break a sweat together, we have created a SB Tri Zwift club for virtual group rides, runs and structured workouts. One of our club members, Ethan Culler, will be hosting virtual group rides every other Tuesday evening. Zwift group workouts are FTP-based, so the workout numbers will auto-adjust based on your FTP as it is set in Zwift. We will also be able to chat/talk to one another while doing the ride together!

You can join these events from the club view in the zwift companion app (for mobile devices).

Triathlon at San Marcos High School @ San Marcos High School
Jason Smith has invited the club to join in on a triathlon at San Marcos High School Saturday March 18th. There will be Sprint and Olympic distance options, and the start time will be at 9am. Athletes will swim in the pool, then transition straight to a stationary bike, and then run on the track.

Please note that athletes need to provide their own bike and bike trainer for the bike leg, and the bike/trainer needs to have a way to measure distance.

Brick Combo with UCSB Tri @ South Coast Railroad Museum off of Los Carneros (MNTT Start Location)
Mar 19 @ 8:30 am – 10:30 am
Matt Ison will be coaching a brick workout on Sunday for the UCSB Tri Team, and has invited the club to join!

These bricks will be more of a "workout" with short rounds of riding/running in succession. Matt will be wearing his coach hat and helping those who want it. It's not a no drop ride, but because it's short rounds, and since the UCSB team is there, everyone should have a small group of similar abilities.

Thanks to Coach Matt for inviting us to these brick sessions! Learn more about his coaching business, Coach Matt Powered, here: https://www.coachmattpowered.com/
